Safari vs Chrome

Here's a screenshot showing Safari and Chrome together. Some sites state that Chrome is wasting less screen estate than the other browsers, I don't think this is necessarily true. Yes, Chrome has no persistent menu bar like Safari, but look at the big empty blue space where the tabs are. Don't tell me that's not wasting screen space. And on closer look, the browser has a thicker border, which means its not using the window optimally. I have to admit I disabled the status bar in Safari, but again here, if you're downloading stuff in Chrome, it shows at the bottom of the window and thus removes area from your viewport.

However, the way the browser handles certain things (I love the "most visited" view .. Just be careful not to visit your favorite pornsites too many times :-)), and the "all in one" address bar is super! (Apple, are you listening?)

It wont be my default browser though, because

1) it wont import any bookmarks (I dont use IE and somehow it doesn't see my firefox install.. And Safari isn't supported at all)
2) it is not supported in MobileMe.. Which I use extensively to sync bookmarks (among other things) across my computers.
3) where's the friggin' "Home" button? [edit] d'uh, that's a preference setting, silly!

But hey, more choices means more push for innovative browsers.

iPhone 3G ringtones - Jingles from USA (vol 2)

I found the above CD "Jingles from USA vol 2." somewhere deep in my closet. It features all kinds of jingles used way back in the late 80s early 90s I guess. In any case, some of them are pretty funny and might as well be used as a ringtone. So, I created an archive with m4r files from it. The zip file is just over 100MB so be careful when you download.

Get it from gigasize: http://www.gigasize.com/get.php?d=cxnovsc3doc

Please let me know what you think of it.

Here are also some samples (note that these are m4a, but the files in the archive are correct m4r files):

Photogene

Here's a snapshot taken with my iPhone and edited on it with Photogene. Could use more features but fun anyway. See appstore for info and download.

Trigger

Trigger shows trigonomy results for a certain angle. It is visualized by a multi-colored triangle. See appstore for more info and download.

RED .. and more RED

Lots of RED news recently. RED? Yeah, RED. The revolution in movie recording. At least, I think they are.

First off, an excellent article on Wired. Follow with the recent announcement of the SCARLET camera. Then the very interesting post about a new Epic camera.. aimed at the DSLR market. Kudos to Jim Annard for making everyone salivate about something that is absolute vaporware until at least halfway into 2009. Not that I could ever afford anything RED-ish.

Brilliant youtube find..

X-Factor.... Sigh.. But X-Factor and idiot contestants = brilliant.

Her best quote: "I don't need Simon Cowell to tell me I can sing, 'cause I have a degree in it"... yeah, right, why the hell did you do the audition then? Talentless attention whore, if you ask me.
