NYC here I come

Ah, sometimes life is good. From the 21st to the 26th of October I'll be in New York. Together with the Bibble Labs guys I'll be showing Bibble 5 to the PhotoPlus expo visitors from 23-25 Oct. I have a bit of spare time to have a look around town, but I'll probably pass on the traditional tourist areas.
As a Macgeek I will most certainly visit the Apple Store and I also may go out and get myself the Olympus ZD 9-18mm lens from B&H or some other store.. Any tips on that??

What do my Posterous friends think are must-see locations.. I prefer people over monuments and buildings by the way ;-) Maybe I should just go to central park and watch people? Anything I should be aware of when photographing?

I have tons of NYC recommendations. Central park is a good start, but I would just wander around lower east side, west village and meatpacking districts. In soho check out the prada store, the muji store, UNIQLO and the $14 artichokes at Dean & Deluca. NYC is a place where you can get a Croque Madame at 4am (at L'Express), sing karaoke with drag queens and a male bellydancer, have the best curry goat of your life, and sneak in to see Rent for $20. It's the life. Check out Time Out NY, Yelp and the Village Voice for more recommendations.
