According to an article in the dailymail, some scientists are convinced evolution of mankind has stopped and we're going downhill from now on;
- no more mutations because there are less children born late (as in from old father/mother)
- there's less need for adaption to the environments.
- too many people to really get "random" changes
However.. while all of the above may be true, maybe our real evolution comes from genetic or stem cell manipulation. This is a subject of controversy because of all those ethic (and religious) issues around it (first techniques of human embryo stem cell research meant destroying or cloning the embryo), but maybe, just maybe this is meant to be our evolution. We have the technology to prevent certain diseases by manipulating genes and stem cells, we could almost create super humans right now, if it weren't for these ethical problems. And frankly I am certain the current religion sponsored governments are also a limiting factor in the evolution of these techniques.
Who knows.. maybe we have evolution in our own hands....
